get to know me :-)
my name is carter treneer and this is my food blog. i enjoy doing lots of different things but one of my favourites is cooking. i have always gotten inspiration from my dad who is a chef. over the years i have gained lots of tips and ideas shared from his own experiences. while i’m still searching for true passions, cooking is always something that i can rely on to give me joy and inspiration. i love creating a product and knowing everything that is in it. i have worked in a kitchen for 2 years as a dishwasher and then line cook, being trained on all stations. i loved working in the kitchen. i loved prepping and seeing my batch of something being served. and as tiring as they were i loved working busy Friday night dinner rushes. i always felt so good after it was done. i am very excited to be in the culinary management program at GBC, to learn everything i need to know about food. as someone who deals with anxiety, cooking is always an escape and can help me get over the loss of appetite i sometimes get. its something i can always rely on as i will always need to eat.
i’m very excited to use this blog to archive memories, recipes and creations. i’m the type of person who loves going back to recipes, so to have somewhere to store them, i am very excited. i hope to be able to look back and see how much i have grown this year. one of my favourite kinds of cooking is vegan food. i love recreating dishes without animal products. i’m not vegan or vegetarian myself, but i love the challenge of vegan cooking and its always good for me. i love trying new things and i love lots of different kinds of food, especially mexican. i really like julian solomita and his vegan cooking videos. some of my favourite chefs are sohla el-waylly, anthony bourdain, gordon ramsey & matty matheson. i really like food magazines and food as art, so im hoping to make this blog similar to taste of runway, pinch of yum or bon appetit. i love these blogs for the reasons that they are visually appealing and have recipes you will be interested in looking at and trying to recreate yourself.
